Feminine Hygiene Supplies for Hurricane Ian

“I am continually inspired by our network of Genuine Humans and their willingness to give back to those in need”, said Amanda Dugger.

When Tampa-based Genuine Human founder noticed the one enormous shortage of much needed supplies headed to those impacted by Hurricane Ian in Southwest Florida, she sprang into action with a specific fundraiser to collect feminine hygiene items. In only one week, Genuine Human raised over $1,000, partnered with a local business collection site and the items were delivered to those most in need by the following weekend.

“It’s a basic need that you don’t think about everyday”, said Amanda Dugger.

Dugger had several friends and neighbors who were collecting supplies. “There was so much water, peanut butter, and cleaning supplies”, she recalled. She was taking note to the needs lists populating social platforms. Once she noticed that there were very few, if any feminine hygiene supplies being donated, she knew she had to do something. “I posted a special fundraiser describing this was for feminine hygiene items to both Facebook and Instagram and within thirty minutes I received a $100 donation from a male friend and former business associate who lives in Oregon”, said Dugger. “I knew right then this would take off enough to make an impact”.

The donations started pouring in over the next week and then Dugger went shopping. The first stop was Sam’s Club so the funds could be used to buy in large quantities. As donations kept pouring in, she had to make two additional trips to Target where she was able to find a diverse set of supplies that would fit varying needs.

People often want to give but aren’t sure what their funds are going to be used for. Genuine Human enjoys providing its donors the quick turnaround of impact on how donations are being used.
