Toy Drive for St. Louis Childrens Hospital

On November 28th, 2022, three-year-old Jackson was diagnosed with B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Jackson will begin a three year journey undergoing treatments at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.  While receiving care at the hospital, Jackson received gifts from Child Life Services department, that brought him pure joy.  Jackson’s sister is a teacher at a non-profit early childhood educational school, Chesterfield Academy.  It was because of this connection and their love for children that Chesterfield Academy organized a toy drive for St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

“I had been following Jackson’s story at Chesterfield Academy and we participated in efforts to help support his family through this time of need,” said Jennifer Adefala, Vice President of the Board at Genuine Human.  “Once I heard of this initiative, I reached out to the Genuine Human Executive Committee to see how we could help.”

Genuine Human’s mission is to find selfless people giving back to their communities and enable them to do more.  The non-profit founder and CEO, Amanda Dugger, has struggled with and survived cancer twice, once when she was 19 with Hodgkin Lymphoma and again in 2020 with breast cancer.  “This initiative and what Chesterfield Academy and St. Louis Children’s Hospital are doing for families facing their worst nightmare, has touched our hearts.” said Amanda. “We are so grateful for everything they are doing for Jackson’s family and the greater impact through St. Louis Children’s Hospital.”
